I picked this gem up from a local seller in August of last year. It was not running, but I had high hopes, as I've wanted an Aztec Green GSR for the better half of a decade now.
The car was far from original when I purchased it. The previous owner had carbon hood and hatch, with an ITR five lug and a different motor set up. He kept a lot of his extra parts, and I ended up giving him a running 96 Civic as trade. Sadly, the motor that I received was not the original B17. It came with a B16A bottom end with a P72 head. The head had Skunk2 Tuner 2 cams (now with dual valve springs and Ti retainers), and an S2 Pro Series IM.
The day I took it home

Got it back and pulled the head, turns out there was some MAJOR issues in there. 16 bent valves, luckily no other damage/scoring. The valve train was replaced and upgraded.

Lucky me though, a DUI that I was charged with a little less than a year prior had processed, and the state of Arizona was ready to start with the butt fucking. Apparently having a couple of crumbs of reefer is enough for them to deem me intoxicated, though I was completely sober at the time. After dropping all the money to fix the head, I got a $3500 bill from AZ along with a one year license suspension.

Not being able to drive sucked, I had to buy a bike for the work commute, but I still managed to budget some money for the Integra in the midst of the state’s BS. It came with some cut springs and coils and mismatched shocks, so to hold me over until I can afford what I really want (Fortune Auto or KW, still haven’t decided fully but I’m leaning towards FA with Swift springs) I found some used suspension locally. I kind of hate myself for doing this, but I got a really good deal so I picked up some Function Form Type 1’s. On a better note, I also picked up some 15x8 Enkei 92’s and some Falken Azenis RT-615k’s.

I knew that the wiring was going to have some issues, but damn I wasn’t ready for what I found under the carpet. I guess someone along the line decided that it needed the largest system it could possibly fit in there. I shit you not, there was 30+ pounds of speaker wire, what looked like home appliance wires cut into them, and ALUMINUM FOIL wrapped around the hack job connections between the multitudes of random wire used. I’ve seen some bad wiring, but this one took the cake.

Here’s what caused me to start digging a little deeper. Pulled the back seats to do some cleaning and found this.

    Then more digging…

There was a turn signal speed dial cut and spliced into the dash harness as well. I don’t really understand the desire to have this option, but to each his own I guess. Wires are all soldered back together, with a new turn signal relay, but they still aren’t working. Hazards work, L or R signal do not. More to look into there, but I wasn’t too concerned at the time.

The wiring on the inside of the car was a very good indication of what to expect under the hood. The wiring was all hacked up and hadn’t been re loomed or taped ever probably. The whole harness was pulled cleaned up. All the butt connectors were removed, soldered, and heat shrunk. The old crusty loom was replaced and taped up as well. No pics, phone died.
It also had a Fields VTEC/SFC controller installed. It’s nostalgic, but not ideal considering the other options out there. The Razos have been removed as well.

    Here’s its replacement.

This thing is AMAZING. The app is so much more than I expected it to be. The real time sensor list scrolled down like 5 more pages, it’s ridiculously awesome! One little quirk I thought was pretty cool is the data logging options. Through the SManager, you can calibrate the system to start and stop data logging with the push of a button wired to your ECU, for example A/C or rear defrost.

I’ve got those 4 codes to deal with still; any help/advice would be appreciated. The ECT issue is with the wiring cap that connects to the sensor, so I’m not too worried about that. The MAP error confuses me, because through the real time it shows that the MAP is reading vacuum.
I thought it was weird that it pulls only OBD2 codes, even though I’m running an OBD1 basemap.

I’ve got some cleaning to do.

When boredom gets the best of you, and you need to move your shit out of the garage. Yeah, but it's a fuckin sweet car.

Cleaned up the master and drained all the fluid.

Pulling the lines and the ABS modulator.

All the parts/tools for the brake tuck

And the first brake line I’ve ever bent and flared.

While pulling the booster to flip (hide vacuum line), I decided it could use a refreshing as well.

    And mostly done….

I managed to get my steering rack mod done. Pulled the 2 plunger valves (or whatever they're called) out and put everything back together.

I came across a deal I couldn't pass up either and picked up an NRG short hub with quick release, and some new door panels to replace the ones with multiple tweeter holes cut in.

Picked up some HardRace roll center adjustors as well.

New wheel bearings and a new OEM hub, roll centers installed all thanks to the good guys at RCG. I also recently ordered a new Exedy Stage 1 Race clutch and some StopTech/Centric rotors from them. Always a good experience with those guys. Thanks Ravi and Jake!

So a major hurdle occurred about a week ago. I don’t know how he managed to do this, but my roommate (now former) took my rent money on the first, and didn’t pay the rent. I found out around July 27th that I had to be out by the 3rd of August. Big shocker to me, especially with a car on jack stands and parts scattered everywhere. I took the whole week off of work (and missed out on like 30 hours of OT on top of my 40) to put everything together enough to move, and got a room with my buddy down the street.

I have too many pics of the car on a flatbed, not enough pics with it running.

    And finished unpacking

And here is the biggest hurdle, wood is expensive, and this is a new home necessity.

Thanks man, stuff happens, he'll learn (hopefully) from his mistakes, and I know who not to trust anymore, haha.

Wow, that's charge catching worthy right there. That's crazy, sorry to hear that, hope things work out for him. The DUI was a learning experience to say the least. The irony is I don't even really drink anymore, and when I do I never drive. I got a DU high for having some crumbs in my pocket. It is what it is, as I probably should have gotten a few DUI's in my younger dumber days. Karma caught me on that one, haha.

He'll get what's coming to him. He's back at home with mommy and daddy now, that's gotta be shitty enough.

Thanks man! Doing my best to be optimistic. This has been a tough month, as I've lost a personal friend of mine, as well as one of my good friends lost his son on top of all the eviction nonsense. Life's short, not always fair, and there's not much we can do but keep pushing forward.

Thanks man! It's pretty easily attained, just rip your front end off, it's snug but it fits around a queen sized mattress, haha.

I do have some small updates, got my engine back out and onto a stand last night. Test fitted my Exedy clutch (I've been that guy that bought the wrong clutch before, needless to say that was pretty nerve wrecking) and all is good! Tonight I'm going to be working on degreeing the cams, setting the timing, and installing my Endyn timing belt tensioner along with the ATI Fluidampr. Spent a lot of my day trying to rearrange the garage so my roommate's S14 will fit in too....since it's his garage and all.

Just got another piece in the mail as well. Vibrant 6 inch filter to fit over my Circuit Hero velocity stack. The funny thing is, I just found a set of ITB's locally that I'm thinking about picking up. This brand new piece may be for sale soon.

I'm contemplating painting my bay since I've kinda trashed the paint removing the ABS. I'm thinking of doing the bay in the Battleship or Machine Shop or whatever we're calling it now grey. I will eventually paint it AGP again, but I don't want to start buying AGP until I'm ready to spray the whole car inside and out. More to come soonish.

Been riding a skateboard for going on 15 years now. Picked one up in 7th grade and pretty much never put it down. I used to have a buddy that had a backyard ramp right down the street from my old place in Iowa. There's nothing like that backyard ramp atmosphere, all the homies hanging out, beer, BBQ, whatever you want to do, it's your place. It's been a goal of mine for awhile now, and I've been working so much OT lately that I have some funds to throw at it.

Ignore the damage I did to my valve cover. I'm going to have to re do it....for the third time now, haha.

The fitment on this header is amazing, highly recommended

The Endyn timing belt tensioner fits amazing as well, the quality of this piece is unreal.

I've gotten in the habit now of keeping spare valve covers around. I have one that is specifically used for tuning (cam gears are exposed) and for swapping or working on the car. My nice valve cover is the last thing to be put on after the swap is done and tuned. That way I never risk messing up my nice valve cover. You should be able to pick up a beater for cheap, well worth the $20-80 to not have to repaint your main cover.

Is that the PLM TA header? I have the same one and love it - ground clearance is great!

Hindsight is 20/20, haha. I'm looking into one soon, I keep finding them locally for cheap too, just being lazy about it.

It is the PLM TA header, and I have to agree, the quality is very good and the fitment is amazing. I would highly recommend it, especially for the price.

Yeah, trust me I had to learn my lesson on that one myself as well... And I agree, the PLM TA is the best budget header out there at the moment, Skunk2 Alpha is probably runner up in my mind but ground clearance isn't as good. I would love to have a real Toda but they're EXPENSIVE!
