ok, i got another icu out of a DB1 but i'm not sure if it's going to work as the DB1 was an automatic, and my DA is a manual. is there any difference between the auto/manual icu's?

i have no rear window defogger and my wipers are posessed. so... i replaced/upgraded the capacitor. everything is the same. luckily, i have access to several other 92 integras, incuding another gsr, to test broken shit. the icu out of the car with no problems works perfectly in my car, so i'm sure its the icu. all the power paths look good, any other ideas what it might be? i'm trying to get this done before work tomorrow. my accord broke yesterday and it is much easier to fix this right now than the accord.

Everything of mines work except defroster.(never did work when car was bought) but i don't care. signals sound but the intermittent switch is broken. it would go on but it would work the way it runs while it's under low.

you can drive it, but i wouldn't recommend it. the following things have circuits that run through the icu... wipers, turn signals, lights on/seat belt reminders, abs, and brake lights. the schematic in the acura wiring manual doesn't break down the inside of the icu, so who knows how the individual circuits will be affected.

Well today I was working with my car and it has been stored in my garage for the winter but to make this short. My seat belt buzzer used to go off randomly, my Oil light came on but dimmed and when i turned on my brights, my amber corner light on the drivers side would always be on when car was running w/o any lights on. My whipers have only 1 speed setting and to my point. Today I charged my battery because it was dead from sitting, hooked up the negative wire then the positive to the battery and instiantly, with my key still in my pocket, smoke started coming out by the injector resistor box so I unpluged the positive from the battery, went to the drivers side and smoke was pooring out of the inside of my car around the fuse box.

Sorry that was actually longer then I anticipated but what I've found is there is a red wire with a black stripe that looks totally fried, it seems to go behind the fuse box. Could this be caused by my ICU? Thanks a bunch guys

pic of my car in it's current state...

How do i go about pulling out my fuse box, I know there is a bolt towards the bottom middle that's obvious but it doesn't seem to want to come off, are there any clips ect holding it that i should look for? Also is the ICU under or above the fuse box. Thanks alot.

Sorry not trying to thread jack.

EDIT: Traced the wire back to the passanger seatbelt motor the wire is red with a black stripe with silver dots. I'm assuming this wire runs to the fusebox somewhere.

There are two bolts holding the fuse box on, one on top and one at the bottom. Also you're gonna need to unplug some of the connectors, I can't remember off the top of my head which ones. The ICU is on the back of it and you will see it once you pull t he fuse box out.

Update for me again followed the fried wire now leading up into my dash by the cruse controle and thats as far as i could follow it. The wire heated up so much it's bare copper compleatly exposed, also found 2 more wires that have the same color pattern of red with black stripe and silver dots... one leads to the radio harness the other to the glovebox light... I'm starting to get really frustrated now dfgsdfsdsdf!!

I'll get pics asap when I get back from a funeral.

Are you fucking kidding me? You just diagnosed his wiring short issue to the ICU? The problems he posted above are ICU related. But the short probably is not. Please don't mislead people to think your smart.

    91 PSI Teg,
First of all do not listed to Bicardi. Got to the electrical section of the forum and post your problem. Member fcm is very knowledgeable with electrical stuff. You need to find out what the black/red wire is. I have a manual at home and will take a look and see. But there's obviously a short somewhere in your wiring. To trace it you need to track down all the red/black wires and inspect them all.

My god you are a fucking idiot. You can't spell or use proper grammar for one thing, so I'm not going to take you seriously! When he listed those symptoms it screamed ICU: corner light on, oil light on, no wiper speed. Please don't act like this thread isn't chalked full of people complaining about those same things and it being the ICU.

I didn't spell your screen name right. Big deal. Proper grammer? Please. How about you learn to give advice to what the OP is talking about. Did you even read his whole post? Take a look below, I highlighted the key points for you. Hopefully it's easier to understand now. Yes those are symptoms all right. But how does that relate anything to a wire short and wires getting fried. He was not driving the car and having all those symptoms going on at the same time when the wires started shorting. Please use some common sense.

You have to unplug a bunch of connectors, I think somewhere in this thread someone listed the colors..I don't remember its been like a year and a half since I did this...then take off the 2 bolts at the top and bottom of the fuse block..you will need an extension for the bottom...and then it'll come off and the ICU is plugged into the back of it

    Just making sure

I'm pretty sure this caused by the icu. But at the same time not !00% sure. During the day time when I press my brake my engine temp goes from normal operating temp to almost overheating. When that happens I'll either rev up above 2000rpm or just simply rev up and let it drop and do it over and over again untill the temp goes down. At night with my lights on, I'll press my brake and my dash lights will dim as I'm rolling or at a stop. But when I'm parked the lights will dim and my temp gauge will climb. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

to me... it doesnt sound like anything that the icu would control.

    search for overheating.
