    car shakes when braking...

I WANT IT TO STOP!!! PLEASE!!!

damn, every brake part is new! new rotors, new calipers, new pads, still shaking... it stopped for a while, but it has come back! this morning, I just replaced the right caliper and rotor, and it's still shaking. left caliper is about a year old and the rotor was changed couple months ago. it's shaking only when i'm braking.

could a bad tie rod end cause some shaking? because I know the right one as some little slack in it.

what else could it be guys??? could a wheel bearing cause this?

    I need help!!

    please!!

    Check Your Wheel Hub!!!

I had a simular problem few months ago. Complete brake job and replacement of front cv joints. After many trips back to the shop (brake vibration).....they replaced the front rotors and pads all over again...still the car shaked when braking. Finaly I took the car to a diff. shop and they diagnosed that the hub was out of sink (slightly bent). The bozos @ the first shop that replaced front shafts and new barings did not install it properly.

After a replacement hub ....my teeth don't chatter any more when I step on the brakes!!

If u have a gauge (like the one they use in the machine shops) it is very simple to check if u have the same problem.

Need more info let me know.........

    I hope this helps!

UPDATE: at highway speeds, the car vibrates a little... but when accelerating, I can feel a pretty good shaking... I know I also have a bad left CV joint. could this bad CV joint cause the shaking?

how could a hub be bented? both CV boots were replaced not too long ago, could something have happened when I replaced them? when I replaced the right rotor+caliper this morning, I did checked them with a dial gauge, but they seemed fine...

but the weird thing is that the vibration came out of nowhere... it was not after something was replaced, at least, not that I can remember. it just appeared one day.

possible things I can think of:
    - bad left CV joint
    - bad front wheel bearing(I don't know which one)
    - bad right outer tie rod end
    - bented hub

    can someone help please??

    thanks!

    Answer,

Based on the manual that I have (not naming any names:p), here's what it says:

    Shudder or vibration during acceleration
    - Excessive Toe-in
    - Incorrect spring heights
    - Worn or damaged inboard or outboard CV joints
    - Sticking inboard CV joint assembly

    Vibration at highway speeds
    - Out of balance front wheels and/or tires
    - Out of round front tires
    - Worn CV joint(s)

    Shimmy, shake or vibration
    - Tire or wheel out-of-balance or out-of-round
    - Loose or worn front hub or wheel bearings
    - Worn tie-rod ends
    - Worn suspension components
    - Excessive wheel runout
    - Blister or bump on tire

    Erratic steering when braking
    - Front hub bearings worn
    - Broken or sagging springs
    - Leaking caliper
    - Warped brake rotors

I know that doesn't answer your question at all, but one of those should be the culprit. I think there's only a 5% chance that it could be something else other than what I mentioned.

Can you give us more info? How's the wheel alignment and such.

    Regards,

    Oz

    thanks a lot The_Oz!!

the car's alignment is perfect... after what you said, i'm guessing CV joint or wheel bearing... I know the left CV joint is shot and I'm pretty sure one bearing is also shot.. I can hear a kinda whump-whump-whump noise when rolling...

i'm gonna have to check these... probably after x-mas.. I don't think i'll have any time before next year!

    keep the suggestions coming!!

    thanks a lot!

Don't wait too Long to fix your problem!!!!!

The shop that corrected my vibration problem, advised me that damage to the transmission is very likely if the above prob. is not corrected asap.

Play it safe, and have somebody look at it (preferbly a shop that knows what they are doing).

Ps. I took my car to the reputable trans. shop.
They advised me that front wheel brgs are pressed into the hub assbly. That is where the first shop screwed up = damaged a new brg and hub assbly and trans. seals.

Like I said earlier, play it safe, have it looked at asap.

    Good luck!!!
