  • Differences GSR vs. RS, LS, GS

So I just spent the last 30 minutes searching and I couldn't really find what I was looking for. What I'm trying to do it take a GSR and swap over every part that's different onto my RS. I was wondering if anyone can post up differences between the 2 that already are not obvious. The things that are visually different are easy to see but I want to make this swap as complete as possible. So far looks to me like the cross members and brakes may be different but until I really get into the dis-assembly it's hard to tell.

There's no benefit to changing those parts over (brakes and crossmembers).

Brakes - are the same for all 90-93 Integras except some have ABS. The ABS calipers/rotors are the same, but the knuckles on the ABS cars have provisions for the ABS sensors. ABS axles also have a sensor ring on them. The ABS cars also have a larger master cylinder. If you plan on upgrading to larger brakes, this larger master cylinder is helpful, but not mandatory.

Crossmembers - again, these are the same. The only difference is that on the GSR there was not an additional support piece connecting the front crossmember to the front subframe. This part didn't fit with the GSR exhaust manifold, and doesn't fit with many aftermarket headers.

The only performance parts unique to the GSR were the engine and drivetrain, everything else was the same or only cosmetically different. Additionally the chassis itself was slightly different. Apparently the metal is a little thicker in some places to add a little extra rigidity.

Motor, Transmission, and ECU are the only performance differences. If you cross check the part numbers the header, cat, and exhaust are all the same as well.

Body wise the DOHC moldings on the fender say VTEC and the rear hatch glass doesn't have provision for 3rd brake light

Interior the front and rear seats and the gauge cluster

Anything I might have missed someone else would have to throw in.

ok I already know everything that's been posted so far. I just wanted to make sure I swapped over everything possible. My insurance company will no longer insure my GSR so I have to swap as much as I can over to my RS. My RS should be a little faster since I'm doing away with power anything. Should be fun at least.

I would pick a different insurance company then. But then again the RS body could be nice.

oem downpipe/collector is different, the part that bolts to the head is the same
rear muffler is different, has two outlets. all others have one outlet and dual tips

            cluster, 9K RPM tach
your rs doesnt have moonroof which the gsr came equiped with
your rs also has manual climate controls, LS/GS/GSR have push button
ABS only came on GS/GSR, your RS doesnt have it, the hood would have an ABS sticker, the knuckles would have mounting points for ABS sensors
the radio is also different between RS and GSR, your RS doesnt have rear speakers, all other cars have it
            seats, have a different pattern
gas cap door, the inside has a label 'premium gas only'
under the hood gsr has a factory blanket, RS LS models did not come with it

i also think the speedo cable is different due to the transmission, but I dont have my refrences

overall, if you want EVERY part, the RS is a poor choice. Start with GS or LS as a starting point.

Speedo cable is the same. Clutch cable however is slightly different, they're interchangeable, but the placement of where it secures to the valve cover is different between the vtec and non-vtec engines. If you are using the clutch cable bracket which bolts to the valve cover then this difference is of minor concern, if you're not using that bracket then the difference is of no concern.

Yes perfect that's the different cable.

ok guys thanks...some of you are pointing out things that are completely obvious. Like I said I already know about those this is my 5th 2nd gen Integra. I wish I could change insurance companies but it doesn't work that way here in BC. My GSR was stolen and now it's been designated "parts only" so it can no longer be legally driven. So I plan on swapping over the engine, trans, ECU, harness and dash and that's about it! I was just making sure I didn't miss anything that would make a significant difference with the performance of my car.

My RS doesn't have power windows either, also It might have not come with rear speakers but the wiring and radio wiring harness was equiped to accept rear speakers

My RS has factory rear speakers in it.

Quick question, were there more than one type of spoiler's for the DA? I feel my RS is different haha. RS also did not have power antenna, it was a flexible mast that didn't retract. I know this cause some punk just busted mine off over the winter.

The only diffrent spoiler to my knowledge is the Db2 spoiler. It has the brake light in it.
