looks like i got the issue fixed. we ll see in the next few days to see how mpg does. And the distributor is still leaning on firewall so that means mechnically timing is off? the 2 cams looks like its lined up but im not sure if the crank is lined up too or not though, will check into it today.

to make it clear to myself if distributor is set towards all the way to firewall with the timing light set at 16 does that mean timing is off by tooth or two?

        The distributor is IGNITION timing...

You have to line up the crank and the cams to check your mechanical timing.

typically, the distributor really shouldn't be maxed out. but if you were able to get the timing to 16*btdc, you're fine. that's all that really matters

no not even, the cams was lined up pointing up fine but crank was off by 0ne or two tooth clockwise. and it runs fine while distributor is leaning towards firewall if i pull the distributor back to where it should be. it will be showing the hesitation like timing is off i guess i have to figure how to get crank pulley tool and to do it cuz if i get it timed up i think i can get it to set at 16* does it make sense?

Exactly how mine was. When I lined up the cams and locked them with the pins, the crank pulley was off clockwise (going by what was left of the white tdc mark). I even took the pulley off, recreated the marks with some touch up paint in the notches (which were still plain to see on the crank when off), and put it back on, to make sure I was not looking at some piece of dirt.

I wasn't, it was off by a good 15-20 deg. and the engine still ran like that.

you can adjust the mechanical timing without removing the crank pulley. you just need to back the tensioner bolt off, pull on the belt to give slack, then tighten the tensioner bolt, then slip the belt off the cam and make your adjustment. there is an access hole for the tensioner bolt in the lower cover, for this very reason. the access hole is behind a plug

well on few days before christmas got the new timing belt on, messing with it three times because my dad kept putting the intake cam tooth counter clockwise (we argued about it) finally got timing lined up right on christmas day. lol it runs alot better but there something still having some kind of problem acts like fuel pump is weak or something i already ordered 255 lph pump with afpr from amazon going to be delivered on 8th. i think i have to order regulator adapter i have no idea how to install it yet. lol and wanted to get it tuned, there is guy local that can tune i asked him about it he can do it for 260 he got p28 ecu and distibutor all i have to get is jumper harness im going to ask him about getting right jumper for it cuz there is something about jumper for distibutor also?
